Oh, hello, it’s me, Kevin Nealon.
I'm excited to share my work with you. I paint people who are catalysts in my life - they have each inspired me to take risks I probably wouldn't have taken without their positive influence.
I create mixed-media prints. Each one is hand signed and numbered 1 to 50.
I love making this stuff.
If one of my pieces ends up on your wall and makes you smile or even inspires you, well, that means a lot to me.
Colorfully yours,
Kevin

I worked with Chris on Saturday Night Live for five years, and he was a gifted comedian. The only time I almost broke character was when I was one of the judges in the Chippendales sketch that he was in. I can’t remember ever not seeing sweat streaming down his face. While painting Chris, I kept getting flooded with memories of his hilarious SNL performances and the behind the scenes moments that made him who he was. Time painting: 27 hours across five different cities.
I worked with Christopher several times on SNL when he hosted. I was always mesmerized by his acting choices… unique and unexpected. I remember he loved garlic. Whenever I got a waft of it, I knew he was near. Time painting: 3 weeks. 4-5 hours a day.
Tilda has always been an enigma to me. She’s beyond talented and also mysterious. I feel this painting captures that. Time painting: 27 hours
I was a cast member on SNL when Nirvana was the musical guest. I was lucky to have him autograph his unauthorized biography for me. He signed, “I am not Liberace, Kurt Cobain.” Time painting: 19 hours
Chappelle often reminds me that he used to open for me in DC when he was 16 years old. Or was it 15? He is beyond brilliant with his comedy…taking risks and always walking that fine line. This piece strays a little from my typical style. I was playing with some crosshatch strokes and really liked the way it turned out. Time painting: 21 hours
Norm, Norm, Norm. Man, do we miss that dude. Some people call his comedy brave and courageous… I always figured it was just poor judgment. haha. I went through a few versions of him before this one felt right. Time painting: 12 hours
I feel this painting captures the insanity of the world in his head. This piece was challenging for me because of the depth perception. I also rarely paint the entire body. I worked on this for over a month. Often abandoning and then getting back.
I could look up her real name, but I prefer the mystery. Lady Gaga is always shifting, and this is just one of the looks I could have chosen. I love how she constantly reinvents herself and also takes risks in her career. Time painting: 26 hours
Anthony Bourdain lets us in. I was intrigued by his life philosophy, and I envied his travel adventures. I wanted this piece to represent his determination. Time painting: 2 weeks, 4 hours avg per day.
No one was a bigger risk-taker than Andy. He was one of my biggest influences for my comedy. I remember nervously approaching him to ask about the benefits of Transcendental Meditation, which he was known for practicing. He generously philosophized about it to me for about half an hour. I don’t remember how long this one took, but I savored every minute working on it.
Tom was my first attempt at a caricature in this medium. It’s simple, blunt, and that’s why I like it. He loved his cigarettes and was carefree. He once watched one of our basketball games at Garry Shandling’s house. We were all hustling on the court while he relaxed on a nearby bench with his legs crossed. Nice guy. Time painting: 65 minutes
When I was growing up, I had two framed caricature pastel drawings of my parents on my bedroom wall by a Parisian artist, and they were unlike anything you'd ever seen. Every night, I'd go to bed, and, subconsciously, I'd be studying those caricatures.
‘I Exaggerate: My Brushes with Fame’ is my collection of caricatures of the celebrities and cultural figures I’ve crossed paths with, paired with personal, humorous stories from my life and career. It’s a mix of my artwork and memories, giving you a look at the people who’ve influenced me, inspired me, or made for a good story.
